Patek Philippe Chronograph

Patek Philippe Chronograph

£49,000.00

Launched in 1998, production of ref. 5070 began with a yellow gold variant displaying a black dial. Yet it was in 2003 when we saw this variant discontinued, and the example we have for sale here replaced it. In rose gold with a silvered dial, it is believed that less than 1,000 examples of the 5070R-001 were made, as production for this reference was stopped in 2007 (making its production period just 4 years). Based on a 1940’s aviators split-second watch, of which just one was made and resides within the Patek Philippe museum in Geneva, the reference has a cult-following and examples such as this are becoming harder and harder to come by. Its Lemania 2310-converted movement is like looking at a piece of art, and remains to this day one of the most popular and most recognised movements to sit within Patek Philippe Chronographs, as we now see all of Patek’s movements being designed, created and assembled in-house. Its iconic, large presence on the wrist is superb, and everything from its stepped case and lugs to its silvered dial has been meticulously finished.

Condition Report:

Seen here in gorgeous condition, the watch has recently returned from a service at Patek Philippe in which an Extract from the Archives was also obtained; stating the watch’s sale date in March of 2006. The important movement within benefitted from an entire overhaul and service. Alongside its Extract from the Archives, the watch comes with its original box, and a leather travel wallet for the storage or transportation of the watch itself.
