Cartier Privé Cloche de Cartier Limited Edition

Cartier Privé Cloche de Cartier Limited Edition

£42,500.00

The Cartier Cloche first appeared in 1917, and is one of the brand’s famous non-standard, unique designs. Named for its bell-shaped (“cloche” is French for “bell”) case, the watch’s defining feature is the flat side contrasting with the curved, crown side, allowing the watch to double as a table clock. To celebrate the century-old model, Cartier have released the Privé Cloche in three metals - yellow gold, pink gold and platinum - and limited to 100 pieces of each. This piece, the platinum edition with grained, ivory dial and classical sword hands, is naturally the most sought-after.  Whilst the design is quintessentially Cartier, the case size of 37.15mm by 28.75mm makes this the largest Cloche to date, and brings the timepiece into the 21st century. Its substantial presence on the wrist is complemented by a ruby cabochon crown, an eye-catching addition which sets the platinum version apart from its gold counterparts. Cartier’s unparalleled attention to detail sees the dial rotated 90 degrees, ensuring that the dial is legible when placed flat side down, that side being the only unpolished part of the case. A rare example of an even rarer Cartier classic.
