First introduced in 1919, the Cartier Tank is an icon not just of watchmaking, but of artistic expression in general. The Tank Cintrée, with its distinctive curved case (“cintrée” being French for “curved”) followed in 1921 and, in celebration of its 100th anniversary, Cartier released a 150-piece limited edition model, a contemporary watch that manages to capture the essence of the vintage Cintrées, proving the timeless beauty of Louis Cartier’s original design. In 18k yellow gold, the case measures 46.30mm x 23mm, a rectangular, elongated design with tremendous presence and dazzling elegance. The curved profile is just 6.40mm thick, transforming the watch into something unique, graceful and extremely comfortable on the wrist. This limited edition shares a chemin-de-fer minute track with the regular production model, but features Breguet-style hands and elongated Roman numerals, which combine with the eggshell dial and traditionally-sized blue cabochon crown to root the watch in history.
