Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Openworked "39mm"

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Openworked "39mm"

£175,000.00

Over the past few years, demand for Audemars Piguet’s flagship model, the Royal Oak, has far surpassed the supply available and as such, prices across the entire range have continued to rise at a monumental rate. Perpetual calendar Royal Oak’s are incredibly popular, however it has tended to be their Openworked variations which are the most-loved and most-coveted. Currently offered within the lineup is reference 15407 in, which is well-known due to its online presence and double balance-wheel. However, at 41mm, and being slightly thick on the wrist, it’s not to everyone’s taste. Enter reference 15305. Unknown to many given it was discontinued prior to the recent hype surrounding skeletonised Royal Oak’s, this 39mm is quite possibly one of our favourite modern references. This extraordinary piece as mentioned features an entirely openworked dial, allowing its wearer to study the inner workings of the watch, whilst also being incredibly aesthetically pleasing. Displaying just the hours, minutes and seconds, the watch has a simplistic charm to it, which coincides beautifully with the openworked dial which truly shows the craftsmanship and intricacy to the watch. It’s not unknown that Audemars Piguet create one of the best bracelets in the world with their Royal Oak’s, and this full rose gold one fitted to the matching rose gold case on this reference is an absolute show stopper.

Condition Report:

Originally coming as standard on a brown leather strap with a rose gold Audemars Piguet fold-over clasp, the original owner of this watch opted to order the full rose gold bracelet directly from AP themselves, and fit it to the watch, which looks simply superb. Unfortunately, during it’s previous ownership the original leather strap was misplaced. However, full rose gold look of this watch is far more suited than how it was originally showcased by Audemars Piguet, and finding one of these references with the factory rose gold bracelet is becoming an increasingly difficult task to achieve. Its condition is extremely good and consistent across its case and bracelet, especially for a watch which is so prone to scratches on its polished areas. There exists light scratching throughout the case and bracelet, most notably on the clasp area of the watch, but any deep scratches or dings are non-existent, which is extremely important. Complete with its original AP box, extract from the archives, and its receipt showcasing its maintenance service and the extract from the archives request, this really is an epic watch.
