Rolex GMT-Master II

Rolex GMT-Master II

£42,000.00

“The Sprite caused a huge buzz in the watch world - the left-sided crown makes this a unique model, but the styling and green and black are quintessential Rolex.”

One of Rolex’s great classics, the GMT-Master is arguably the world’s most famous travel watch. In the 1950s, with commercial flights booming, Pan-Am partnered with Rolex to develop a watch for its pilots that could display the time in more than one time zone. This collaboration resulted in one of today’s most collectible and famous watches, quickly picked up by NASA, the US Air Force and business travellers. This latest model, the 126729, is forged from gleaming 18k white gold and features a black-and-green bezel, earning this watch the nickname “The Sprite”, but it is the technical updates that make it such a significant piece. Its highly-legible, bright-green Cerachrom dial is the very first ceramic dial ever offered on a Rolex, whilst Rolex’s patented Cerachrom bezel insert is highly resistant to scratches and fading. An innovative touch places the crown and crown guard on the left side of the case, with the date aperture and Cyclops lens at 9 o’clock, rather than at 3. The watch comes on the new Oyster bracelet with adjustable Oysterlock clasp for comfort and stability, and the new cal.3285 movement provides superior precision. Once again, Rolex prove themselves the masters of small adjustments that make a real, tangible difference.
