One of the most classic watch designs of all time, the Patek Philippe Calatrava was introduced in 1932 with the reference 96, and has remained the epitome of elegance ever since, with innovations layered on top of classic, beautifully proportioned features.  The 2019 introduction of this ref.5212 was groundbreaking in a variety of ways; the debut of a brand new complication for Patek, the Weekly Calendar, it is also a rare example of the brand using stainless steel in a non-sports watch. The 40mm steel Calatrava two-tier case with vintage two-tier lugs houses an entirely new in-house movement, designed to power the innovative Weekly Calendar - displaying the day, date and week number, with the corresponding month. The silvery-opaline dial is complemented by white gold dauphine-style hands and “obus” hour markers, and for yet another truly unique touch, the numerals and letters are in a hand-written style, in Patek’s words “a poetic nod to the notes written in paper diaries.” - a novel, specially-created font to lend the 5212 a throwback, timeless beauty. Playful, imaginative and the only Patek Weekly Calendar in existence.
