Gérald Genta Arena Bi-Retrograde, 50th Anniversary Edition

Gérald Genta Arena Bi-Retrograde, 50th Anniversary Edition
“Genta is the father of ‘cool’ and, typically for his watches, this Arena Bi-Retrograde’s jumping hours are cutting-edge and extremely in-style.”
Gérald Genta, the world-renowned creator of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, the Patek Philippe Nautilus and countless other iconic timepieces, founded his eponymous brand in 1969. To commemorate its 50th anniversary, as well as Genta’s life and works, the line’s current owners Bulgari have released this rare and complicated Arena Bi-Retrograde, limited to 50 pieces. The watch’s rich blue dial colour is obtained by a sophisticated process of fine lacquering in blue, causing the surface of the dial to interact with the light, creating varied and complex tones. The dial displays retrograde minutes and retrograde date functions, in addition to its hour and minute indications. The powerful BLV300 movement is housed in the famous sizable, round Arena case with its smooth, wide, curved bezel, all forged from silky platinum. The jumping hours are displayed through a window at 12 o’clock, while the minutes are tracked on an arc spanning the top half of the blue lacquer dial, across which the minute hand travels and snaps back to zero every 60 minutes. A stunning work of art, with a combination of complications simply unavailable anywhere except at Genta.
