First unveiled in 1997, the Patek Philippe Aquanaut’s purpose was to define the future and build on its famous older brother, the Nautilus, whilst retaining that unmistakable Gérald Genta lineage. In the decades following its release, however, the Aquanaut has taken on a life of its own, becoming one of the world’s most iconic watches in its own right. This model, the 5167/1A, is the Aquanaut in its most distilled incarnation. It retains the famous proportions, lines and styling, with a delicately satin-finished bezel and mix of polishing and brushing on its 40.8mm stainless steel case and matching Aquanaut bracelet, showcasing Patek’s immaculate construction and quality. The stunning black embossed dial is fitted with white gold applied numerals and luminescent hour markers, and the gorgeous cal.26-330 movement, with 24k gold oscillating weight, is displayed through the watch’s sapphire caseback. Although the 5167/1A was born on a stainless steel bracelet, an Aquanaut black vulcanised rubber strap with steel deployant clasp comes with the watch, enabling the wearer to change aesthetic while maintaining perfect stability and comfort on the wrist. In excellent condition, the watch comes complete with its lacquered wood box, papers, wallet, manuals and service receipt from 2016, along with its Patek Philippe rubber strap and deployment clasp.
